The Physics of Life Summer School now in its fifth edition, is an immersive, interdisciplinary program designed for early-career researchers (PhDs up to postdocs) who are interested in the powerful role physics plays in understanding and solving biological problems. Sponsored by the Wellcome Trust and held in partnership with Durham University's Biological Sciences Institute (BSI), the Institute of Physics Biological Physics Group (IoP BPG), and British Biophysical Society (BBS), the program offers a unique opportunity to explore how fundamental physical principles apply across biological systems - from molecules to systems.
Venue information:
Lectures and sessions will be held on the science site at Durham University, UK within the Palatine Centre located on the Science Site.
Accommodation will be provided at nearby Hatfield College located in Durham City and a 10–15-minute walk from the Palatine Centre. Standard single college rooms with en-suites are provided with breakfast provided each morning. Check in is from 2pm and check out from 10am.
Registration Fees
The registration fee contributes to the operational costs of this summer school. Thanks to our event sponsors, we're able to heavily subsidise each attendee's place. This keeps the registration fee as low as possible while still providing a rich program tailored to early career researchers.
Please Book Responsibly
Given the significant subsidy, we kindly ask that you only register if you are fully committed to attending. If you reserve a spot and are later unable to come, you might prevent another researcher from benefiting from this opportunity. Please note, we can only issue refunds if we successfully fill your space from a waitlist.
